The Staglin property lies on the famous Rutherford Bench, producing Cabernet-based red wine with a distinctive dustiness, in addition to a well deserved reputation for brilliant Chardonnays. In 1985 they acquired some of the top vineyard sources in the area for their bottling, and took full advantage of the wisdom of the incomparable Andre Tchelistcheff, who was responsible for planting 50 acres of the west side of the valley in 1965. Vineyard manager David Abreau is one of the most in-demand Napa Valley viticulturists, and has been tending the Staglin Family Vineyard since it began to be farmed organically in 1990. Winemaker Fredrik Johansson has the finesse to bring out the best of this Rutherford site in every bottling since he became lead winemaker in 2007. Both the red and the white wines of Staglin have been uniformly rising in quality since he took over, so join us as we welcome Amber for a dinner celebrating the current releases of this historic Californian winery.
