Fall Seminar Series: Burgundy Village

October 13, 2018, 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

$10

Burgundy — or Bourgogne in French — is the source of endless wine related love, frustration and fascination. A maze of appellations and fragmented vineyards, a slew of producers and intensely variable vintages, and all predicated on just two simple grape varieties. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are responsible for a dizzying array of wines almost impossible to categorize. To a new student of wine, Burgundy is an impossible wall, with 2,000 years of history behind it, and winemaking secrets guarded by an insular group of vignerons. Parsing the region is a lifelong pursuit, and its wines are reliably a gamble, either enchanting the palate with their complexity and versatility, or confounding the senses with disappointment. Perhaps because of its mercurial personality, Burgundy has captured the imaginations of wine nerds and sommeliers across the world, and we here at Arroyo Vino are no exception.

We’ll give you the chance to drink through a spectrum of different Burgundies, and explain why this maddening, infinitely variable region has captured our hearts.
