We could wax poetical about Burgundy until the end of time, but this isn`t the time or place for that. Suffice it to say, this rainy, mercurial region in France puts out what is undoubtedly the best wine in the world and this oenophilic output would be impossible without a delicious culinary backbone to support it. At this point many of you are familiar with the import company Benvenusa, run by the folks behind Frasca, Sunday Vinyl, and Tavernetta, in Boulder and Denver: Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson and Bobby Stucky. The company started with a strict focus on Friulian wines but has expanded to other regions in Italy.
Our first event is a wine dinner featuring the foods and wines of the Northern Italian Wine region of Friuli. Lachlan will be discussing the wines, terroirs, and people that produce them; the menu will be inspired by classic Friulian cuisine.
The second event will be a luncheon featuring the wines of Cantina Maugeri from Mt. Etna in Sicily.
