Summer Seminar Series: Germany
Saturday July 7th, 3pm
The 21st century has brought vast innovation and improvement to German wine. Made famous by the racy, delicate Rieslings produced in the Mosel Valley, Germany has overseen a revolution in quality wine production. This involved diversifying the local selection to include many new grapes, not to mention a movement towards dry production of Riesling in all thirteen of its regions, known as anbaugiete. Even some quality red wine, made from Pinot Noir or Spatbürgunder, has started to emerge from places like Ahr, the Pfalz, and Baden. Still, the top wine producing areas experience the moderating influences of rivers such as the Mosel and the Rhine. With the advent of climate change, ripening grapes has proven less challenging for German vintners, which is fortuitous considering the current renewed international appreciation for its unique fine wines. Join us this Saturday in exploring the dynamic, modern vinous landscape of a region with ancient winegrowing roots.
The Seminar begins promptly at 3pm, please arrive a few minutes before.
