Please note: Arroyo Vino Seminars are now at 2pm.
Tequila is one of the world’s most undervalued spirits, capable of offering a delicious and complex tasting experience. Though it is commonly associated with heavy drinking, frat houses and sugary sweet mixed drinks, it is rapidly gaining a reputation as a spirit worthy of contemplation. Mezcal, its smokier cousin—or perhaps mother is more accurate, considering that mescal is the term for all distilled products of agave, and tequila can only be produced from blue agave—is stepping out of the shadows and winning over hearts, minds across the world. It offers an earthier, more rustic tasting experience, and can be utilized in a wide variety of cocktails that bear little resemblance to the ubiquitous margarita. So join us this Saturday for a thorough examination of the agave plant’s most famous progeny, where we’ll taste through a selection of artisanal tequila and mezcal and determine what makes these unique spirits so impossible to put down.
