Our next December family meal is an unabashed holiday celebration. The Feast of the Seven Fishes is a unique Italian American tradition inspired by the spiritual practice of abstaining from meat during Christmas Eve until the feast of Christmas Day. Originating from southern Italy, where it is known as La Vigilia, it symbolizes the wait for the midnight nativity. The meal is comprised of simple, seasonal dishes such as salted cod that reflect the native cuisine of historically impoverished regions in the Italian countryside. It’s a feast of rustic simplicity that commemorates the value of sharing humble food with beloved company—a true family meal. In that vein, guest chef James Campbell Caruso of La Boca will join Chef Allison Jenkins in the kitchen to lend a hand in creating all seven seafood themed dishes. Come sit at our table on December 13th for a uniquely Mediterranean inspired Christmas celebration.
