North Berkeley Imports Wine Dinner
Join us for a fun and enlightening evening of French wine and food. We will be featuring wines from legendary producers, to include Egly Ouriet in Champagne, Remoisennet and Arlaud in Burgundy and Clos des Cailloux from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Along with this insane line-up, Billy Weiss, owner of North Berkeley Imports, as well as his Regional Sales Manager, Sien Brown, will be here to talk about the wines.
The wine industry is full of “ah ha” moments; “moment[s], where a casual interest in wine turned into an all-consuming passion… [a] bottle with a character so profound it turned upside-down everything you thought you knew about the transformation of grape into wine.”
Billy Weiss believes – and we agree – that a great importer is at the root of such moments. He, and those that work for the company feel blessed to be the link between the growers and vignerons and the multitude of people who appreciate their hard work: “in substance, we procure expressive, authentic wines…in spirit, we unite passions and palates…” Billy purchased North Berkley Wine Shop in 1999. North Berkeley was founded in 1979 just down the street from Alice Waters’ now iconic restaurant, Chez Panisse. Billy transformed the beloved local shop into one of the most respected wine import companies in the country. Billy usually saves his travel to going to Europe to visit producers, so having him in town for our wine dinner is a true honor.
