Saturday Tasting: Riesling

Talk to any wine professional and ask them what their favorite wine is and nine times out of ten the answer will be the same: RIESLING! Riesling is bright. Riesling has acid for days. Riesling has fresh fruit. Riesling has great aromatics. Riesling can pair with just about anything. The whole “Riesling is sweet” thing is so last century and so not true; sure, some of them can have residual sugar but the the high acidity of the grape provides a perfect foil to it – in fact, the opposite is more often true: the acidity level demanding a level of sweetness to balance the wine. Anyways, the ultimate takeaway is that Rieslings are delicious and need greater appreciation from the broader public.
