NoLa; Nawlins; The Big Easy, whatever moniker you have for it, New Orleans is a glorious city, with a food and hospitality culture that is legendary. A true “melting pot” New Orleans cuisine draws from the city’s Spanish and French heritage; from the African-American presence, with it’s roots in the slave trade; from the Creole communities of the surrounding bayous; from the Vietnamese immigrant population that now calls the city home; all of these different cultures have brought a bit of their origins: an ingredient here, a technique there, a dash of spice everywhere. For this iteration of our Family Meal we celebrate New Orleans cuisine and honor this amazing city and the people that have and continue to cultivate one of the most distinct food cultures in America.
