The Feast of the Seven Fishes is a unique Italian American tradition inspired by the spiritual practice of abstaining from meat during Christmas Eve until the feast of Christmas Day. Originating from southern Italy, where it is known as La Vigilia, it symbolizes the wait for the midnight nativity. It’s a feast of rustic simplicity that commemorates the value of sharing humble food with beloved company—a true family meal.
